Ursuline College Athletic Hall of Fame
The Ursuline College basketball record book almost reads like a summary of Wood's career. Five years after graduation, she remains the all-time leading scorer in program history with 1,627 points and no one ever averaged more than her 14.4 points per game during a career. A prolific scorer, Wood made 90 more field goals than any other player in program history despite being second in field goal attempts. No Arrow hit more than her 368 free throws.
She could do so much more than score, too. During her four years in the Blue and Gold, she grabbed a school-best 1,015 rebounds and number two on the school's all-time list finished with 678 boards. Wood concluded her playing days with an average of nine rebounds per game. She's second all-time in career assists and held the mark until junior guard Brianna Woods broke the record this past season.
At the defensive end, Wood owns the school record for career steals (217) and ranks third in blocks (61). She appeared in 113 games and started all but three. Her 110 career starts rank second in program history.
She had a full trophy case that included awards from the national level, including honorable mention status on the 2006-07 NAIA All-American Team. After the 2005-06 season, she was named the American Mideast Conference 'Freshman of the Year' and earned third team all-conference honors that season. In 2006-07 and again in 2008-09, Wood was named to the All-AMC second team and sandwiched in between, she was an honorable mention pick.
Twice (2007-08, 2008-09) she was named an NAIA scholar-athlete.
Wood remained close to her alma mater and served on the Alumnae Board. She is remembered for her outstanding effort between the lines, but also for being a Fleur-de-Lis Leadership Honorary - awarded to junior/senior students who possess leadership, service and respect while exemplifying the Ursuline mission.
After graduation, she spent time as a Senior Admission Counselor at UC, telling prospective students about all the great things the College has to offer.
