Ursuline College Athletic Hall of Fame
A trusted and devoted teacher, mentor, and colleague at Ursuline College, Dr. Mary Jo Cherry, taught and administered in various roles for over 22 years at Ursuline College at the time of her induction into the Ursuline Athletic Hall of Fame.
From the start of athletic competition at Ursuline in 2000, Dr. Cherry and fellow inductee Dr. Virginia “Ginny” Marion, were enthusiastic supporters of the athletic program. Even through driving rain, frigid temperatures, mounds of snow, or even the occasional clear day in Ohio – Dr. Cherry was there to support every athlete that competed for Ursuline.
Dr. Cherry was frequently honored before games or during halftime ceremonies by her own student-athletes for her support of them in the classroom and on the playing field. They knew they could always find her on the corner of the bleachers, with Dr. Marion, wearing her Ursuline Athletic gear supporting them during every play!
At the time of her induction in the spring of 2010, Dr. Cherry was a professor in the Education Department, where she also served as the Director, Early Childhood Education and Field Experience Coordinator.
