Each Thursday, fans can visit UrsulineArrows.com for a weekend preview. This weekend, four teams are in action with only one event being held on campus.
Last weekend, the cross country team
showed dramatic improvement at the Bill Sudeck Invitational as all three returners – Katie Brobst, Erica Dingman and Madgie Dunn - ran quicker than they did the year prior. This weekend, the team will look to take another step forward at the
Ric Sayre Invitational, hosted by Walsh University.
A season ago,
the Arrows took fourth of five teams at the event with Dunn leading the way with a time of 22:02.
The women’s 5K race will start at 10:00 a.m. Fans can check UrsulineArrows.com for results around 12:00 p.m. on Saturday as well as a full recap later in the day.
There will be a lot of firsts for the Arrows golf team this weekend at the Evann Parker Memorial, hosted by
Mercyhurst University. It will be the first match
Jen Irwin coaches for the program as well as the collegiate debut for all seven members of the team - all of whom are freshmen.
The two-day event to be held at
Downing Golf Course tees off at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday (Sept. 8) with the first Arrow getting started at 2:00 p.m. The tournament concludes with a second round that will start at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday (Sept. 9) but tee times for specific teams are yet to be announced.
Results will be posted on UrsulineArrows.com after the completion of each round.
After going on the road and winning a pair of matches last weekend, the Arrows return home for a Saturday (Sept. 8) contest with
Walsh University in what will be a battle between 2-0 teams. Kickoff at the renovated Ursuline College Soccer Field is set for 1:00 p.m.
The Arrows beat Shepherd 1-0 last Friday (Aug. 31) thanks to the first career goal of freshman Taylor MacIver. The following day,
Ursuline came from behind to defeat Pitt-Johnstown by a 2-1 count in overtime. After sophomore Paige Rowan evened the score at 1-1, freshman Vanessa Consiglio won it in the extra period with her first career tally.
The constant was superb goalkeeping from senior Rachael Smith. Her seven saves
earned her the first-ever Great Midwest Athletic Conference ‘Women’s Soccer Athlete of the Week’ award.
Last year, these two teams met in the semifinals of the Ohio Independent Championships,
a match Ursuline won on a 3-0 count.
Fans who can’t make it out to Pepper Pike to watch the action can tune in to the
Ursuline College Sports Network to listen to a free audio stream with Max Radigan providing the play-by-play.
Statistics (Stats from Ursuline’s match vs. West Virginia Wesleyan are yet to be turned in.)
The Ursuline College volleyball team will head to Owensboro, Ky., in search of its first win of the year at the
Kentucky Wesleyan Classic. The Arrows first two opponents –
Kentucky Wesleyan College and
Glenville State College – are both 0-4.
In Tuesday’s (Sept. 4) loss to Tiffin, juniors Alex Leister and Maureen Kelly each had a team-high five kills. Lesiter scooped out 10 digs while sophomore Kelly Stenger had eight of her own.
