In honor of National Girls & Women in Sports Day, the Arrows hosted their third annual Arrows Youth Sports Clinic this past Sunday, February 1st.
Ursuline Athletics welcomed youth sport enthusiasts' grades K-8 to the Stano Athletic Center for year three of this fun and free event. Participants sampled the wide range of sports the Arrows sponsor. They spent time rotating through each station to play softball, flag football, cross country, track and field, lacrosse, tennis, stunt, golf, basketball, bowling, soccer and volleyball.
Freshman track and field athlete, Xyia West talked about her experience working the event for the first time. She reflected, "It's a really great turnout and it's fun watching these young ladies try out all these different sports. It also shows a sense of community, not only for the sports teams, but also as a whole athletic department. I'm so grateful to be at Ursuline and to be able to participate in events like this."
Our Arrows student-athletes, coaches, and administrators enjoyed the day full of female empowerment, team comradery, and laughter as they truly embodied the essence of National Girls & Women in Sports Day.
Brooke Haren, sophomore basketball player, expressed her experience stating, "This event is just super special to have girls of all ages come in and hang out with us, and it's super cool for me wanting to be a teacher, getting to experience this and see their joy for the world as well as seeing it through the game of basketball. It's super cool to have them here today and it meant a lot to us and to me."
The Arrows NGWSD Clinic was one of six events that took place in the state of Ohio in 2025, but the event has now blossomed and expanded to over 250 events nationwide in 2026. The Day is devoted to recognizing the progress of girls and women in sports, and the benefits that sports and fitness activities can bring to the lives of all girls and women. The Day is powered by the Women's Sports Foundation who is celebrating over 50 years of strengthening and fostering girls and women in sports.
The Arrows would like to extend a special thank you to the Orange Community Recreation & Education Department for their partnership at this event! Thank you to all our participants and student-athletes who made this event so special.
