Cleveland, Ohio – The Ursuline College cross country team started the season with a third place showing at the 12th annual Bill Sudeck Invitational, hosted by Case Western Reserve University at Squire Valleevue Farm.
The Spartans won the event on their home course and Allegheny College took second. Ralph White’s team finished third with an average time of 17:51.96.
Freshman Nicole Burlinson was the first Arrow to cross the finish line. In her first collegiate race, she placed 16th with a 17:08.10. Senior Katie Brobst was five spots behind her, coming in 21st with a time of 17:39.40 to make the biggest leap of any Arrow. Last year, Brobst ran a 19:54.71 at Squire Valleevue.
Sophomore Madgie Dunn, the top Arrow in four of the seven meets in 2011, came in 26th and covered the distance in 18:03.20. She shaved almost 10 seconds off her time from the 2011 Bill Sudeck Invitational.
Freshman Dawnyae Simpkins finished her first career race with an 18:12.80, one spot ahead of classmate Elisha Manley (18:16.30).
Erica Dingman showed strong improvement from her freshman to sophomore season. Last year, she finished in 19:57.18. On Saturday, she crossed the line in 18:42.10.
Rookie Diona Roberts finished her first race in the Blue and Gold in 20:26.10.
The Arrows return to action next weekend at the
Ric Sayre Invitational, hosted by Walsh University. The women’s 5K race will begin at 10:00 a.m.
