800 Meter Results

ALLENDALE, Mich. –
Ursuline College sophomore Nicole Burlinson placed third in the country with a time of 2:08.64 in the 800 meter run at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships on Saturday (May 24) night. By virtue of placing in the top-eight, she earned All-American distinction. Back in March, she earned All-American status for her efforts during the indoor season.

"Nicole loves competition," coach Ralph White said. "A lot of kids freak out and get nervous, but she thrives when the spotlight is on. Our kids are very, very good about stepping up. They rise to the occasion – the bigger the meet, the better they do."

Burlinson entered Ursuline with a PR of 2:18 in the 800 and has chipped 10 seconds off that time in the last two seasons.

Saturday capped a terrific second season for Burlinson, a Great Britain native. In mid-March, she placed fifth in the 800 at the NCAA Division II Indoor Championships. Burlinson was named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Track Athlete of the Year after helping the school capture its first ever conference title on April 19. During the indoor and outdoor seasons, she combined to set six new individual school records to push her total to 11.
