The Ursuline College Women's Track & Field team returned to competition after two weeks off at the Ashland University Jud Logan Light Giver Invitational, a two-day meet held Friday and Saturday February 6-7th. The Arrows saw multiple top performances and personal bests across all event areas.
On Friday,
Savahnna Gyasi-Nimako continued her dominance in the triple jump, winning the event with a mark of 11.40m to lead the way for the Arrows. Gyasi-Nimako also placed 5th overall in the elite long jump section with a jump of 5.28m, which is her best mark of the season so far.
The DMR relay team of
Dominique Weisz,
Phebe Elliott,
Katie Lane, and
Jocelyn Dornbirer placed 5th overall with a time of 12:51.17, a 12-second improvement from the JCU meet two weeks ago.
Madison Sands recorded a personal best in the pentathlon with a score of 2,662 points across the five events (60mh, high jump, shot put, long jump, and 800m), improving by 105 points from her first pentathlon at the Hillsdale meet in December. Sands now moves to 4th all-time in school history in the event.
KeYonna McGill had a season-best performance in the 200m dash with a time of 25.47, placing 15th overall, while teammate
Eljoenai Wehl ran 25.73 to place 21st overall. In the weight throw open section,
Adrianna Ruble and
Xyia West both recorded big personal best improvements. Ruble threw 13.39m to place 7th overall, while West placed 18th with a throw of 11.81m.
On Saturday,
Katie Lane placed 2nd overall in Heat 4 of the 3000m with a new personal best time of 11:05.71, improving her 5th-best all-time mark in school history by 17 seconds.
Dominique Weisz placed 4th in the same heat with a personal best time of 11:22.43, a 12-second improvement.
Aaliyah Banks placed 15th overall in the 60m hurdles with a solid performance of 9.54 and followed that up with a personal best in the 200m, running 26.97.
Eljoenai Wehl placed 3rd overall in the open 400m dash with a personal best time of 58.39.
Jocelyn Dornbirer placed 8th overall in the mile run with a time of 5:06.96, moving her to 2nd all-time in school history with the new personal best.
KeYonna McGill placed 5th overall in the 60m dash final with a time of 7.68.
Malicca Brown had a strong performance in the open long jump section, finishing 3rd overall with a jump of 5.03m.
Kayla Kephart placed 11th overall in the high jump with a clearance of 1.52m, while
Xyia West placed 14th in the shot put with a throw of 10.37m.
The 4x400m relay team of
Eljoenai Wehl,
KeYonna McGill,
Phebe Elliott, and
Jocelyn Dornbirer closed out the meet with a 4th-place finish overall, running a new season-best time of 3:57.92.
The Arrows will return to action on Saturday, February 14th at the SPIRE Collegiate Games at SPIRE Academy in Geneva, Ohio.
