Two Arrows Set Meet Records and Multiple Top 8 Performances

The Ursuline College Women's Track & Field program opened the outdoor season at the Denison Lid Lifter this past Saturday, March 28th. The Arrows set two meet records and had multiple top 8 performances on the track and in the field events on the day.

Jocelyn Dornbirer started the track events with a meet record in the 1500m, running a new personal best time and a UC top 5 performance in school history with a time of 4:45.34. KeYonna McGill followed up her teammate, setting another meet record for the Arrows in the 400m dash with a time of 57.79, which is an outdoor personal best for her. Dornbirer and McGill both won their respective events on the day. Aaliyah Banks won the 100m hurdles with a time of 15.92, which is a new collegiate best for her on the day to capture the win.

Eljoenai Wehl placed 2nd overall in the 400m with a time of 59.51, which is an outdoor personal best for her to open the season. Katie Lane placed 8th in a time of 5:06.19, and Dominique Weisz placed 10th in a time of 5:12.82, which is a new personal best for her in the 1500m. Angelys Caballero had a personal best in the 1500m with a time of 5:32.85. Kayla Kephart placed 7th with a time of 2:29.87, and Davinia Sanchez-Mireles had a personal best in the event with a time of 2:38.72. Kennedy Outland placed 3rd overall in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:10.27. Madison Sands placed 8th overall in the 200m dash in a time of 27.92 to close out the day on the track.

In the field events, the Arrows were led by two runner-up performances and top 8 finishers. Kayla Kephart and Savahnna Gyasi-Nimako both placed 2nd overall in the events. Kephart jumped 1.51m in the high jump, and Gyasi-Nimako jumped 5.23m in the long jump. Teammate Malicca Brown placed 5th overall with a jump of 4.90m in the long jump to have a solid start to the outdoor season.

Javelin was a strong event for the Arrows, with 3 top 7 finishers in the event. Delaney Maclay led the way with a throw of 25.52m to place 4th, Madison Sands had a solid debut with a throw of 25.02m to place 6th overall, and Adrianna Ruble placed 7th overall with a throw of 24.80m. Ruble placed 6th overall in the hammer throw with a throw of 39.79m to move into 5th all-time in UC history in the event. Xyia West closed out the field events with a strong debut in the shot put, placing 5th overall with a throw of 10.74m.
