SPIRE Division II Challenge Meet Results

GENEVA, Ohio – The Ursuline College track and field team put together its best meet of the season at Saturday's (Feb. 8) Division II Challenge Meet, held at the SPIRE Institute. Three school record performances were turned in and a handful of other showings proved once again that the program is headed in the right direction.

Sophomore Nicole Burlinson won the mile with a school record time of 5:07.50. She was previously the record holder with her 5:09.31 at Youngstown State two weeks ago. She also took the title in the 600 meter run when she crossed the finish line in 1:36.43. Junior Rachel Cole was fifth with a new personal best time of 1:43.57 and her classmate Madgie Dunn finished in 1:52.83 to give UC three of the top ten in that event.

Sophomore Bea Indurain ran a 9.10 in the 60 meter hurdles prelims to finish seventh of 27 participants and earn a spot in the finals. In that round, she ran a school record 8.94 and finished fifth overall. She already owned the top Ursuline mark with an 8.97 in her first collegiate meet back on December 1, 2012.

Freshman Aminah Bercheni ran an 8.10 in the 60 meter dash prelims, tying sophomore Jasmine Lett's school record. She was also one of three Arrows who showed tremendous progress in the 200 meter dash.

Rookie Alexis DeVaughn ran a 27.20 in the 200 and her previous best was a 28.41 just last Saturday. Freshman Chelsea Rice finished in 27.81, improving her 28.68 from two weeks ago and Bercheni needed 28.02 seconds to cover the distance, knocking a third of a second off her top time entering Saturday.

In the long jump, Rice cleared 4.70 meters after being measured at 4.33 meters last weekend. Freshman Sarah Rosso's 3.07 meter jump last Saturday improved to 3.40 meters this week.

Freshman Ali Mowrey was measured at 11.08 meters in the weight throw after coming in at 10.99 last weekend. She remains fifth in school history with that distance.

After competing at the SPIRE Institute for three consecutive weeks, a few Arrows will travel to Grand Valley State University's 'Big Meet' next weekend in Allendale, Michigan.
