Day One /
Day Two
Â
ALLENDALE, Mich. – On day one of Grand Valley State University's 'Big Meet,' Ursuline College sophomores Nicole Burlinson and Bea Indurain showed they can compete with some of the elite collegiate runners in the United States. The two-day event, which is one of the largest track meets in the nation, was tabbed the USTFCCCA "National Meet of the Week."
On the big stage, Burlinson ran the 800 in a time of 2:10.80 – shattering her own school record of 2:14.06 set 363 days ago at Kent State University. Friday's time was good for fourth in the field of 36 competitors and was well under the NCAA Division II Provisional Qualifying Time of 2:16.50. The automatic standard is set at 2:09.00.
The only athletes to beat Burlinson were Steph Tinney (2:09.86 – Unattached), Charlotte Myers (2:10.02 – Miami-Ohio) and Rebecca Stearns (2:10.32 - Loyola Chicago), making her the top Division II finisher.
Her time was the fifth best by a Division II student-athlete all season.
Indurain ran a 9.08 in the 60 meter hurdles to finish 23rd in a field of 33 student-athletes, many of whom attended Division I institutions.
Both UC sophomores are also scheduled to compete again tomorrow. To follow free live results, click
