SPIRE Midwest Open Results

GENEVA, Ohio – The Ursuline College track and field team had another fine showing at the state-of-the-art SPIRE Institute on Saturday (Feb. 1), this time at the Midwest Open. Many program top-five performances were achieved.

In the 60 meter hurdles prelims, sophomore Bea Indurain took eighth of 43 participants to qualify for the finals with her time of 9.23. In the finals, her 9.21 was good for seventh. Freshman Chelsea Rice ran a personal best time of 9.78 in the prelims to take 23rd. She remains fifth all-time in program history in that event but narrowed the gap with the top-four.

Indurain covered the 60 meter dash in 8.22 seconds, inching out her previous all-time best of 8.23 set two weeks ago at SPIRE. That time is the fourth best ever by an Arrow.

A tremendous athlete, Indurain also improved her previous best long jump effort. She took ninth of 46 student-athletes on Saturday when she cleared 5.20 meters, slotting her second in program history.

In the 600 meter run, juniors Rachel Cole and Madgie Dunn both had top-five performances. Cole was 10th of 29 athletes on Saturday with a 1:44.01, the third best time in UC history, and Dunn's 1:49.89 pushed her into the top-five.

Freshman Ali Mowrey's 10.99 meter heave in the weight throw was the fifth best ever by an Arrow and she was measured at 11 meters in the shot put, an improvement from her previous best of 10.84 meters.

Rookie Alexis DeVaughn ran a 1:04.89 in the 400 meter dash to improve her previous best time of 1:05.44.

The Arrows will compete again next Saturday (Feb. 8) at the SPIRE Institute's Division II Challenge Meet. Field and track events will both begin at 10:00 a.m. and you can follow the live results by clicking here.
