Youngstown State Invitational Results / SPIRE North Coast Open Results

YOUNGSTOWN and GENEVA, Ohio – The Ursuline College track and field team made some edits to the school record book this weekend. A pair of student-athletes competed at Friday's (Jan. 24) Youngtown State University Invitational before the team traveled to Saturday's (Jan. 25) SPIRE Institute North Coast Open where lots of progress was shown.

Sophomore Nicole Burlinson placed third in a field of 62 participants in the mile on Friday night, breaking her own school record by more than six seconds. Her previous best, which was set on the same track in early December, was a 5:15.59 and she turned in a 5:09.31 Friday night.

Burlinson's classmate Bea Indurain ran a 9.35 in the 60 meter hurdles prelims to qualify for the finals. In that round, she was clocked at 9.17 to take third place.

That momentum carried into Saturday as Indurain had a terrific showing. She was fourth out of 29 student-athletes in the 60 meter hurdles prelims with a time of 9.15 and then placed third in the finals with a 9.24. Freshman Chelsea Rice was 13th in the prelims with a 10.02, the fifth best time in school history.

In the long jump, Indurain leaped 5.17 meters to move into second on the all-time UC list. This came eight days after clearing 4.85 meters at the Northwest Ohio Invitational.

Junior Rachel Cole came in 11th of 34 runners in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:01.60, good enough to place her fourth in school history.

Freshman Aminah Bercheni ran an 8.15 in the 60 meter dash prelims to take sixth in the field of 40. In the finals, her 8.14 placed her seventh. Indurain was 10th in the prelims and then came in 10th in the finals with an 8.31.

The Arrows will compete again next Saturday (Feb. 1) at the SPIRE Institute's Midwest Open. Field and track events will both begin at 10:00 a.m.
