Samlow Joins Arrows Basketball Coaching Staff

The Ursuline College Athletics Department has announced the hiring of their new assistant basketball coach, Mason Samlow

Samlow has been coaching basketball for the past 8 years, where he has coaching experience at the Division I, Division II, and NAIA levels.

Samlow is joining the Arrows from West Virginia State University, where he was the women's assistant coach, finishing the 2024-2025 season with an 18-13 record. While there, he helped advance the team to the Mountain East Conference Tournament semi-final game. He led multiple athletes to high accolades, including 2nd Team All-Conference and Honorable Mention All-Conference players. As an assistant, Samlow was in charge of coaching, recruiting, fundraising, and daily operations.

Before joining West Virginia State University, he has coached at the University of Charleston, Georgetown College, Davis & Elkins College, and Shawnee State women's basketball, all for one season as the assistant coach. While at Georgetown and Shawnee State, his teams posted winning records and earned bids to the NAIA National Championship.

In his coaching career, Samlow has helped 12 student-athletes be recognized as all-conference selections. Before starting his coaching journey collegiately, Samlow started as an Assistant Video Coordinator for the Houston Cougars women's basketball team, where he conducted breakdowns of incoming recruits' film, assisted with individual workouts, and helped with video production for gamedays and practices.

Samlow currently coaches at the Ohio Future AAU Basketball program, where he assists college basketball players of all levels. He graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Science in Sports Administration.

Head Coach Shannon Sword stated, "Mason and I have known each other for a while now, and I have always been impressed by his knowledge of recruits and the way he runs his AAU team. He is also a big skill development and film guy – two things that will make any program better. I am excited he is on board!"

Athletic Director, Cindy McKnight stated "Coach Mason has a lot of background knowledge and enthusiasm for basketball and will be a great addition to our basketball coaching staff. I am excited to see him work with our athletes and help them compete at a higher level and learn more about the game."
