The Ursuline College Cross Country Team competed on Saturday morning at the NCAA Midwest Regional Championships in Evansville, IN. The Arrows placed 27th out of 32 scoring teams on the day in the region.

Emma Esteves led the way for the Arrows with her 28th place overall finish at NCAA Midwest Regional Championships with a new personal best and school record of 21:29.25 in the 6k race. Esteves was just three spots away from the top 25 all-region team but improved 22 places from a year ago when she placed 50th overall and dropped 43 seconds from her old school record on the same course from 2021. Esteves will wait to see if she gets an at large bid to the NCAA championships in Joplin, MO based on her individual performance in one of the toughest regional meets in the nation. 

A'Zaria Thomas placed 118th overall with a new personal best time of 23:04.91 and improved her 3rd all-time performance in school history in the 6k. Thomas improved by 28 places from her 146th placed finish a year ago to have her highest finish at regional meet in her career and dropped her time by 29 seconds from 2021 on the same course.

Emma Smith placed 187th in a new personal best time of 24:58.33. Smith improved 7th places from a year ago and improved her time by 3 minutes and 10 seconds since her freshman year on the same course from 2021.

The trio of freshman was led by Dominique Weisz with a time of 25:33.87 not too far off her career best performance and teammate Kayla Kephart finished right behind Weisz with a new personal best time of 25:43.93 improving by almost a minute from her previous personal best. Angelys Caballero had huge personal best as well in 26:38, which is an improvement by almost a minute as well from her previous personal best performance. 

The Arrows will wait to see if Emma Esteves will earn an at Large individual bid to the NCAA DII Cross Country Championships in Joplin, MO when the official announcement is released on Monday evening on November 6th.
