Game Two: Cedarville 6, Ursuline 1
The Arrows took an early lead in game two when senior Michele Hare scored in the top of the second. After working a one-out walk, UC's third baseman came around to score on an illegal pitch by CU's Cecelia DeBartolo.
Cedarville came right back to tie the game in the bottom half of the inning. Carlyn Hanzel started the inning by reaching on an error and after retiring the next two hitters, senior pitcher Sarah Maxwell should have been out of the inning. CU's Jessica Palm took advantage of the extra opportunity and singled to center to plate Hanzel and even the score.
The Yellow Jackets added a pair of runs in the fourth to knock Maxwell out of the game after three and one-third innings of work in favor of freshman Brittany Humbel. The game one starter was tagged for three runs in the fifth to make it a 6-1 game and UC couldn't get to DeBartolo to get back in the game.
Cedarville's junior pitcher had control issues and handed out eight walks to go with three hits. She did record 11 strikeouts and limited the damage to just the one earned run.
Maxwell took the loss and fell to 2-4 after allowing three runs, only two of which were earned.
