PEPPER PIKE, Ohio – Cedarville’s pitchers shut down the Ursuline offense and the Arrows made too many defensive mistakes in Saturday’s home doubleheader against the Lady Jackets. Cedarville took game one 10-0 in six innings and captured the finale by a 7-0 count.
The Arrows are now 6-12 overall and 0-6 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference. Cedarville picked up its first two G-MAC wins of the season (2-4) while improving to 15-14 overall.
Ursuline clawed its way to six hits on the day – two each by junior Natalie Huggins and sophomore Sam Roberts. Seniors Lauren Grana and Megan Passwaiter each added a base knock.
Senior Ciara Seymour took the loss in the circle in game one and junior Sarah Maxwell was on the wrong end of the game two decision. Neither pitcher received much help as the defense committed eight errors on Saturday. Only nine of Cedarville’s 17 runs were earned.
The Arrows had their chances in game two against CU ace Courtnie Spain but left nine runners on base. When it was a 5-0 game in the bottom of the sixth inning, Ursuline loaded the bases with just one out before the next two hitters went down swinging.
