Ursuline College junior Rachael Smith has been named Arrows Athlete of the Month – sponsored by Buffalo Wild Wings – for the month of October.
Rachael has guided the Arrows to a regular-season record of 12-2-1 as the team prepares for the Ohio Independent Championship Tournament, starting on November 2 at home against Malone.
The Arrows established many new program records this season, including wins (12), lowest amount of losses (2), shutouts (10), win streak (10), games without a loss streak (12 and still active), 715 minutes without a goal covering all or part of nine games; shutouts in a row (7), and with some deeper research it is likely the Arrows have given up a record low in goals this season (9).
Rachael has recorded eight solo-shutouts and started and played in two other shared shutouts this season. She has played in almost 1,300 minutes this season, allowing just ten goals - only two in the month of October (undefeated in eight games).
She has made 47 saves on the season, and has now totaled over 30 wins in three years as the starting goalkeeper.
