The Ursuline College Cross Country team competed at the G-MAC Cross Country Championships held in Hillsdale, MI, on Saturday morning. The Arrows achieved a 9th place finish out of 12 scoring teams, totaling 224 points, improving their ranking by one spot compared to last year.
Leading the way,
A'Zaria Thomas delivered an impressive performance, securing 29th place overall. She ran a personal best of 22:57 in the 6k race, which now ranks her second all-time in Ursuline's program history. Thomas has demonstrated outstanding progress this season, achieving her highest conference finish to date. Not far behind,
Alaysia Brooks earned 37th place overall, clocking in at 23:15 a personal best and her highest conference placement. Thomas and Brooks have consistently showcased remarkable strength and dedication throughout their cross-country careers.
Supporting the team's strong showing,
Emma Esteves placed 49th overall with a time of 23:43. Esteves capped off an impressive G-MAC Championships career, leaving a legacy of determination, resilience, and numerous all-conference honors. Esteves has been a cornerstone for the Ursuline College Cross Country team throughout her collegiate tenure.
Katie Lane, in her first-ever G-MAC championship, placed 75th in 24:41, just 18 seconds shy of her personal best.
Dominique Weisz and
Jocelyn Dornbirer also had strong races, with Weisz finishing 86th in 25:17 and Dornbirer right behind at 87th in a season-best 25:31.
Emma Smith concluded her final G-MAC cross-country championship with a season-best time of 25:45, showcasing remarkable progress. Over her time at Ursuline College, Smith has improved her performance by over three minutes, a testament to her dedication and hard work.
Additional notable performances included season bests from
Kayla Kephart (26:02),
Angelys Caballero (27:26),
Gisele Cabrera (27:40),
Kennedy Outland (28:15), and
Grace Toth (30:29), marking an impressive team effort across the board.
The Arrows will now prepare for the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Championships, set for November 9th in Romeoville, IL, hosted by Lewis University.
