The Ursuline College Cross Country Team had an impressive showing at the 9th Annual Lewis Crossover held on Saturday at the Lewis University Cross Country Course in Romeoville, Illinois. Competing in the women's 6,000-meter open race, the Arrows secured a 2nd place finish out of 13 teams.
Alaysia Brooks led the charge, finishing 2nd overall out of 104 runners with a personal best time of 23:27. This performance moves her to 4th all-time in Ursuline history for the 6k, marking another top-three finish for Brooks on consecutive weekends.
Close behind, A'Zaria Thomas claimed 4th place overall with a time of 23:40, continuing her strong season with back-to-back top-six finishes.
Freshman Katie Lane made her mark by placing 14th overall in a time of 24:23, earning a spot in the Ursuline record books as 9th all-time in the 6,000-meter race.
Sophomore Dominique Weisz ran a collegiate best of 24:58, good for 23rd place, shaving over 30 seconds off her previous best from last season.
Other key performances came from Jocelyn Dornbirer, who posted a season-best time of 25:54, and senior Emma Smith, who also achieved a season-best with her 26:25 finish. Sophomore Kayla Kephart rounded out the top seven for Ursuline, crossing the line in 27:44.
The Arrows will take a break from competition next weekend before returning to action at the G-MAC Cross Country Championships, hosted by Hillsdale College on October 26.
