Box Score 4 The Ursuline College softball team traveled to Richmond, IN this past weekend where they faced five DII competitors.

THURSDAY, FEB. 23

In their first game of the weekend versus University of Wisconsin Parkside, the Arrows fell 0-7.
Casey Barton went 3-2 at bat and tallied four put outs. UC tied the Rangers with 21 total team put outs but the Arrows had just 4 hits compared to their 10.
Danielle Hoffman had three strike outs but took the loss for UC pitching.

In game two on Thursday, Ursuline battled with MN State University – Moorhead. The Dragons picked up their first two runs in the third inning before the Arrows blew the game open in the fifth. With Vallejo's double leading them off, Herrera doubled to right center to send Vallejo home. A single from Barton drove in their second run followed by another from Kopp to send home a third. Mohr tallied an RBI from her single for Kopp and then locked in their fifth run off a hit from Jones.

MNSU Moorhead went on to score four more unanswered runs in the final innings. Both teams had 10 hits and 5 RBI's. Herrera had six assists on the game to add to her one run, one hit and one RBI. Backherms tallied the loss for her 6.2 innings pitched.

FRIDAY, FEB. 24

On Friday morning the Arrows faced Purdue Northwest where they went down fighting, 2-4. UC opened up strong with two runs in the first inning. Herrera put herself on base with a double before Kopp swung one to the SS to advance. Jones struck out but reached first on a passed ball and was out at second. Meanwhile, Kopp scored an unearned run on the throw and Herrera scored on a passed ball.

The Pride finished the game with three runs in the first and one run in the fourth to lock in their win. Backherms had three strike outs and 11 hits while pitching. Kopp went 3-1 and had eight put outs.

In their fourth game of the weekend on Friday afternoon, UC fell to Upper Iowa University in a 0-5. The Arrows had seven hits compared to UI's 11. Â Ursuline tallied a high of 11 assists on the game, five of which were by Mohr on third. Jones had 11 putouts for her team at first base. Â

SATURDAY, FEB. 25
Â
In their final game of the weekend, the Arrows took on Lewis University and fell 0-11. Mohr had the Arrows single hit of the game. Barton picked up the loss pitching four innings for UC, allowing five hits and four runs. UC had 12 putouts and 7 assists compared to LU's 15 and 6.

The Arrows open up G-MAC play in their next game on March 24
th at 1:00 PM in Pepper Pike, OH.
