The Ursuline College softball team will open the 2017 Great Midwest Athletic Conference tournament against Kentucky Wesleyan on Thursday morning at 10:30 am in Xenia, Ohio.

The Arrows and Panthers split their only two meetings of the season in Pepper Pike in April. Kentucky Wesleyan won game one 8-4 while Ursuline rallied to win game two 9-8 with a three-run sixth inning.

Brittany Humbel ranks fifth in the G-MAC in ERA with a 2.57 while junior
Gina Rosshirt is also in the top 20 at 3.86. Humbel also leads the league in strikeouts with 144 and opposing batting average by allowing the opposition to hit just .241 off her this season.

The Panthers Maci Brown led the G-MAC in wins with 14 and was second in opposing batting average and second in strikeouts behind Humbel. Meredith Daunhauer finished second in the conference in batting average after hitting .451 this year.

The Arrows offense was led by redshirt junior
Brigitte Snow who batted .367 with five home runs and 27 RBI while starting all 37 games. She also had seven doubles and one triple while slugging .587 and posting a .922 fielding percentage.

The winner of the Arrows and Panthers will face either #1 Cedarville or #6 Malone later Thursday afternoon. The tournament is a double-elimination format.Â
