PEPPER PIKE, Ohio - The Ursuline College softball team capped off the 2015 season with a 4-2 win over the guests from Ohio Valley University on Saturday (April 25) afternoon.

With the win, UC took two of three from OVU over the weekend. Ursuline concluded the year with a record of 10-23 overall and 2-18 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference while Ohio Valley finished 9-38 overall and 3-18 in conference play.

Junior second baseman Alison Porter, senior catcher Sam Roberts, sophomore third baseman Kaitlin Krajcik and sophomore shortstop Brigitte Snow - the top four in head coach Sue Woodford's lineup - each scored a run on Saturday.

Roberts was 2-4 in her final collegiate game while Krajcik went 1-2 to reach safely for the 14th consecutive game. Over the last 14 games of the season, Krajcik hit .471 (16-34) and in UC's 20 conference games, she hit .417 (20-48) with an on-base percentage of .517.

Snow was a perfect three-for-three on Saturday to end the year with a 10-game hitting streak. During said streak, Snow hit .533 (16-30) with six doubles and six runs batted in.

Freshman pitcher Gina Rosshirt got the win in the series finale to wrap up a solid stretch to end the season. In UC's last seven games of the year, she had an ERA of 1.50 and K'd 36 hitters while walking 18 in 46 and two-thirds innings of work.

On Saturday, OVU leadoff hitter Leigh Murphy worked a walk to start the game and later scored on Kyle Doelling's two-out double to put the Fighting Scots in front 1-0 before UC came to bat.

Ursuline quickly answered in the home half of the inning. Roberts singled and Krajcik sacrificed her to second base before Snow delivered a run-scoring single up the middle.

Brianna Thomas started the OVU second with a single to left and the next two batters gave themselves up while advancing Thomas to third. With two down, pitcher Morgan Wallace helped her own cause with a single that brought in the go-ahead run.

From there, both pitchers put three straight zeroes on the scoreboard.

UC took over in the bottom of the fifth. With one out, Porter reached on an error by the second baseman and then Roberts struck out looking so Wallace should've been out of the inning. Krajcik made OVU pay for giving UC a golden opportunity by singling to center. Snow followed with a double down the left field line that tied the game at two.

Snow's double ended Wallace's day and Kristine Brown, the pitcher of record in both games of yesterday's doubleheader split, came in with two runners in scoring position and two outs.

Brown walked Rosshirt to load the bases and then Brittany Humbel drilled a ball to the right side. The second baseman made a terrific play to get to the ball but hrew it away which allowed Krajcik and Snow to score.

Rosshirt (4-15) allowed a runner to reach base in both the sixth and seventh innings but she never gave in. The rookie hurler allowed just two runs in her complete game effort. She scattered five hits, walked a pair and had three strikeouts.

Wallace took the loss to fall to 1-13. She allowed four runs, just one of which was earned, in her four and two-thirds innings. Brown gave up a hit and walked a batter but retired four batters.
