MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - The Ursuline College softball team went 0-3 on Tuesday (March 9) at the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic.

UC lost to Seton Hill University by a score of 9-0 in game one and then lost to Roosevelt University, 9-1, in six innings. The Arrows looked like they were going to have a chance in their final game of the day but Penn State University-Altoona won it 6-5 in walk-off fashion.

The Arrows are now 1-3 on the young year. Seton Hill's win came in its season opener and Roosevelt improved to 3-0 while PSU-Altoona jumped to 4-0.

Because the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic is a neutral site tournament, official game files are not yet available. Here is what we know based on the postgame report from the UC coaching staff:

Seton Hill 9, Ursuline 0
Freshman pitcher Gina Rosshirt took the loss. The Griffins scored one run in the third, four in the fifth and four in the sixth and UC struggled to get things going at the plate against SHU pitcher Amanda Huff who allowed just three hits.

Sophomore Kaitlin Krajcik was 1-2 with a single and a sacrifice bunt and her classmate Brigitte Snow was 1-3 with a single (the first base hit of her career) and a stolen base while junior Alison Porter was 1-3 with a single. Other than that, the Arrows struggled to get going.

Roosevelt 9, Ursuline 1 (Six Innings)
Junior pitcher Rachel Jalowiec was dealt the loss but again the offense sputtered. The Arrows had four hits, two of which came off the bat of junior Alison Porter who also swiped a base. Junior Danielle Almodiel was 1-3 with a stolen base and sophomore Brittany Humbel singled.

Penn State-Altoona 6, Ursuline 5
The Arrows trailed 1-0 after one but scored two in the top of the second to take a 2-1 lead. It didn't last long as the Lions answered in the bottom of the second to knot the game at two.

Ursuline tacked on two runs in the top of the fourth to take a 4-2 lead but in the home half of the inning, PSU-Altoona brought around three runners to re-gain the lead. The Arrows tied the game at five in the top of the fifth but PSU-Altoona won it with a run in the seventh.

The Lions made five errors in the game.

Sophomore Brittany Humbel took the loss after going the distance. She didn't record an out in the seventh inning and allowed 10 hits but did have a pair of strikeouts.

At the plate, junior Alison Porter singled and stole a base and Humbel also singled. Sophomore Brigitte Snow tripled to record her first career extra base hit and freshman Gina Rosshirt singled which was her first base knock in an Arrow uniform.

Senior Sam Roberts was 2-3 with a stolen base and three runs scored. Freshman B.J. Thomas was 2-2 with a pair of singles. Sophomore Carly Hoffner was 1-3 with a single and a run scored and her classmate Kaitlin Krajcik scored a run.

Ursuline is idle on Tuesday (March 10) but will return to action on Wednesday (March 11) with two games. The Arrows will take on Medaille College at 1:30 p.m. and Montreat College at 3:30 p.m.

Again, there is no host institution this week so box scores may be slow to trickle in but we will keep you posted on results as best we can through our social media platforms.
