MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - The Ursuline College softball team won both of its game on Friday (March 13) to run its winning streak to three straight. The Arrows beat Principia College 18-3 in five innings in the first game of the day and then came from behind to knock off Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute 4-3.

Head coach Sue Woodford's team has won five of its last six games and has outscored the opposition 48-26 during that span.

Because the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic is a neutral site tournament, official game files are not yet available. Here is what we know based on the postgame report from the UC coaching staff:

Ursuline 18, Principia 3
Ursuline scored 18 runs on 10 hits - four of which went for extra bases.

Freshman pitcher Gina Rosshirt earned her first collegiate win after she went four innings and allowed three runs on four hits. Rosshirt struck out three before giving way to junior Rachel Jalowiec who pitched a one-two-three fifth.

Rosshirt's classmate Briana Benge picked up her first collegiate hit. She was 1-2 and came around to score. Fellow freshmen Leah Leshnack and BJ Thomas got in on the act as well. Leshnack was 2-2 with two runs and a pair of stolen bases while Thomas was 1-1 with a stolen base and a run scored.

Sophomore Brigitte Snow was 2-3, stole two bags and scored three times. Her classmates Carly Hoffner (2-4 with a double and a run scored) and Ashlie Brown (1-1 with a run scored) helped the UC cause.

Junior Alison Porter doubled, drove in a run and scored twice herself.

Ursuline 4, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute 3
RPI loaded the bases with two outs in the first and Morgan Ten Eyck laced a three-run double to stake the Engineers to a 3-0 lead. From that point on, UC sophomore pitcher Brittany Humbel was in control. She scattered just three hits over the next six innings and earned the complete game win.

Humbel's final line included three runs on five hits but six strikeouts.

The Arrows cut into the deficit in the fourth when Humbel came through with an RBI double that plated her classmate Brigitte Snow. Still, UC entered the seventh trailing by two.

Humbel was the first to bat in the seventh and she worked a walk. Head coach Sue Woodford summoned sophomore Taylor Test to pinch run. Senior Sam Roberts put the ball in play and everybody wasafe on an error that put two runners on. Sophomore Kaitlin Krajcik laid down a sacrifice bunt that moved two Arrows into scoring position for freshman Leah Leshnack.

Leshnack came through in the clutch with a double that scored Test and Roberts to knot the game at three. Sophomore Ashlie Brown doubled later in the inning to bring Leshnack home for the winning run.

Ursuline will finish the Spring Break trip on Saturday (March 14) against the College of Saint Elizabeth. CSE is a Division III institution and the Eagles will enter Saturday with a record of 2-6. Saturday's game will start at 9:30 a.m.

Again, there is no host institution this week so box scores may be slow to trickle in but we will keep you posted on results as best we can through our social media platforms.
