PEPPER PIKE, Ohio – Trevecca Nazarene University showed how it won the inaugural Great Midwest Athletic Conference regular season title with a doubleheader sweep of Ursuline College on Saturday (April 27) afternoon. The visiting Trojans won both games by a score of 9-0, although game one was called after five innings.

Ursuline finishes the regular season at 9-21 overall and 0-10 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference. Trevecca Nazarene enters the postseason at 25-10 overall and 12-0 in conference play while riding the high of an eight-game winning streak.

These two teams will meet again on Thursday (May 2) in the opening round of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championships. Top-seeded TNU will host the event in Nashville, Tennessee.

On Saturday, the Arrows collected just four hits in the two games. Seniors Megan Passwaiter and Ciara Seymour both each had a base knock and junior Natalie Huggins and freshman Rachel Wells each added a hit.

Ursuline honored Passwaiter and Seymour in addition to classmates Sam Gauvin and Lauren Grana in a pre-game ceremony to commemorate ‘Senior Day.’

Junior Sarah Maxwell started both games and faced three batters in each. She took both losses to fall to 4-11 on the year. TNU’s Natalie Papini and Lindsey Stephens combined on a complete game shutout in game one before Kelsey Kemp went the distance in the circle in the second game to improve her record to 9-2.
