The Ursuline College softball team heads into Easter Break with a pair of losses at Mercyhurst, 8-2 and 10-0 (five innings), on Thursday afternoon. The Arrows will not play again until next Thursday, April 12 at Walsh University.
Against Mercyhurst, the Arrows managed just two runs in the first game on two hits, both by Ciara Seymour. One of the hits included an RBI-single in the top of the first to give Ursuline an early lead. Mercyhurst tied the game in the third off Brittany Schnarrs with a run, and took control of the game with three in the fourth and four more runs in the fifth. Nicole Schierbaum and Natalie Huggins replaced Schnarrs to pitch scoreless 1.2 innings, allowing just one hit. UC added a run in the sixth without a hit.
In game two, Ursuline once again managed only two hits, but this time couldn't put a run on the board as Mercyhurst scored all 10 runs in the second inning against Seymour. Schnarrs replaced her to close out the inning, pitching two and a third innings, allowing just one hit. However, the ten run lead forced the game to end after the top of the fifth.
Ursuline will now look to next weeks action against Walsh, and then return home on Saturday to face Oberlin at 1:00 p.m. in Pepper Pike.
