The Ursuline College softball team lost both games of a doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon to Notre Dame College. The Falcons took game one, 1-0, and game two, 8-0. Ursuline had three hits on the afternoon by Samantha Roberts in the lead-off spot.
In game one, Brittany Schnarrs pitched two innings in the start, allowing just one run on three hits. The Falcons only run came in the first inning on a bunt single, a walk, and then an RBI-single with two outs. However, over the next five innings they managed only four hits, no more than one in an inning. Ciara Seymour took over for Schnarrs in the third, pitching four innings, allowing three hits and recording three strikeouts, with no walks.
The bad part for Ursuline, was Notre Dame's pitcher matched the solid performance by Schnarrs and Seymour, taking a perfect game into the seventh and final inning. The perfect game and no-hitter was broken up by the first batter of the inning, Roberts, who recorded a bunt single. However, she was left stranded in scoring position, as the Arrows fell in game one.
In game two, the Arrows managed five hits, but couldn't get on the board, losing 8-0 in six innings. Sarah Maxwell started the game and gave up five runs on three hits and two walks in the first. From there, Schnarrs (2 innings), Natalie Huggins (2.1 innings), and Seymour (0.2 innings) helped close out the game.
The Arrows will return to action on the road this Thursday, April 19 at Baldwin-Wallace, before returning home for a doubleheader on Friday, April 20 against La Roche.
