Ursuline Softball drops a pair of games at Walsh

The Ursuline College softball team dropped a pair of games on Thursday afternoon at Walsh University. The Arrows fell 12-0 in the first game (5 innings), and lost game two, 6-5, in the seventh and final inning.

In game one, the Arrows manged only two hits, one from Samantha Roberts and one from Michele Hare. Walsh on the other hand recorded 12 runs on nine hits, including 10 runs in second inning.

In game two, Ursuline took an early 4-0 lead in the first inning on two hits and four defensive errors by the Cavaliers. Then in the second, the Arrows added another run, but Walsh slowly chipped away with three runs in the second and two more in the fifth.

Both teams went into the seventh inning tied at 5-5, and Walsh took the victory scoring in its final at-bat. For Ursuline Miranda Boggs, Michele Hare, Nicole Schierbaum, and Melissa Ruminski each recorded hits, with Hare, Schierbaum, Ciara Seymour, and Lauren Grana each recording a RBI.

Hare, Megan Passwaiter, and Natalie Huggins each scored once, while Boggs scored twice.

Ursuline will return to action this weekend with a doubleheader against Oberlin. With expected rain, there is a chance the game is moved to Friday afternoon on the road, instead of its regular-scheduled time of Saturday afternoon at home.
