The Ursuline College softball team, which was scheduled to open the season on Monday, managed to get one of two games in on Wednesday at Mount Vernon Nazarene University. The Arrows dropped the first game of a scheduled doubleheader, 9-1. Game two made it into the fourth inning, but was called due to darkness.
Ursuline scored one run on three hits, coming from
Lauren Grana,
Natalie Huggins, and
Melissa Ruminski. The run however was scored by
Cierra Griffin, who reached base on a walk and came around to score in the fifth inning on an RBI by Ruminski.
The Arrows gave up nine runs on 10 hits, six of the hits coming from the #2 and #3 hitters (three each).
Ursuline will now head down to South Carolina and play eight games over spring break, before returning home for two home games on March 20 and 21 against Lake Erie and Wheeling Jesuit respectively.
