Ursuline Softball drops doubleheader to Wheeling Jesuit

The Ursuline Softball team dropped both games of a doubleheader to Wheeling Jesuit University on Wednesday afternoon. The Arrows lost game one, 4-0, and lost game two, 2-0. The losses drop UC to 6-6 on the season.

In game one, Wheeling jumped out to an early 2-0 lead on three hits and an error. The Cardinals then added runs in the fourth and the seventh on nine total hits for the game. Ursuline managed only four hits and five baserunners in game one, all of which were stranded.

In game two, Lauren Grana had a tremendous game at the plate, going 2-2 with a walk as she totaled almost half of the teams five hits, and half of the team's seven baserunners. In the field, Miranda Boggs and Natalie Huggins made great play, after great play to keep the game tight. Boggs had five assists and a putout, while Huggins made a great innings ending diving catch that lead to a double-play in the seventh to keep the game at 2-0 when it looked like the Cardinals might push for more late inning runs.

Ursuline will return to action Friday and Saturday at the Cedarville Classic. The schedule for the weekend has been posted with links to live audio and stats provided by Cedarville. The Arrows will return home Sunday to take on Point Park to close out a busy weekend of at least six games, possibly seven if they finish in the top four of the Cedarville Classic and play in one of the two placement games.
