Track & Field's Highest Team Finish at G-MACs

The Ursuline College Track & Field team competed at the G-MAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Hillsdale College and finished 7th overall as a team, scoring 37 points. The Arrows improved their overall point total by almost double from 19 points a year ago. 

Alaysia Brooks ran 2:06.54 in the preliminary round to advance to Friday's final in the 800m with a new personal best time to break her own G-MAC championship record in the event. Brooks returned on Friday to defend her 800m individual title with her time of 2:05.28 to break her school record again. Brooks completes the sweep in the 800m with winning the indoor & outdoor individual titles. Brooks has won the 800m individual title four times in a row. Brooks broke the G-MAC Championship outdoor meet record and had a personal best time in the event, being named G-MAC First Team All-Conference in the process.  Brooks moves into 2nd in the NCAA Division II in the 800 meters this outdoor season.

Freshman, Savannah Gyasi-Nimako saved her best jump for last to bring home her first G-MAC First Team All-Conference title with a jump of 12.27m in the triple jump. Gyasi-Nimako 12.27m jump is a new school record, G-MAC Championship record, #1 all-time in G-MAC history, and hits the NCAA provisional mark. Gyasi-Nimako currently ranks 18th in the NCAA Division II in the triple jump this outdoor season. 

A'Zaria Thomas ran 4:36.91 in the 1500m preliminary round to advance to Friday's final. Thomas placed 4th overall to earn 5 huge points for the Arrows with her season best of 4:34.04. Thomas improved by 3 spots from a year ago to have her highest individual finish at the G-MAC Championships in her career. 

Emma Esteves showed up huge in the 5,000 meters to place 5th overall in a time of 17:59.36 to earn 4 points for the Arrows. Esteves earned her first outdoor championship points in a very deep field of distance runners. 

Dayahana Douglas had a season best performance in the 100m dash with a time of 12.28 to advance to the finals to place 9th overall. Douglas followed up her good performance in the 100m dash with a solid 200m preliminary race just missing the finals with a time of 25.58 to place 11th. Breanna Banks had a career day in the 400m hurdles with a personal best of 1:05.97 to place 10th overall, just shy of making finals. Banks moves her 3rd all-time mark in school history in the event. 

The Arrows relay teams had a good day to add much needed points to the score board. The foursome of Malicca Brown, Gyasi-Nimako, Karrington Green, and Dayahana Douglas placed 5th overall in the 4x100m relay. Their time of 48.26 earned 4 points on Saturday for the Arrows , which is a season best for the relay team. The foursome of Breanna Banks, Brooks, Jocelyn Dornbirer, and Thomas placed 4th overall in the 4x400m relay to earn 5 points on Friday for the Arrows with their time of 3:59.04. 

Ursuline had multiple personal and season best performances from the G-MAC Championships. Miranda Mowery and Christina Scialabba closed out their career at UC with career best performances in the javelin, Mowery with 32.44m placing 12th and Scialabba with a throw of 25.07m. Mowery's throw of 32.44m moved her into 3rd all-time in school history in the javelin.

Kayla Kephart had a personal best in the 800m with a time of 2:25.83 and had a season best in the high jump with a 1.54m jump. Angleys Caballero and Coryasia Owens both had personal best in the 400m with a time of 1:04.00 and 1:04.59. In the shot put, Jasmine Jamison and Adrianna Ruble had season bests of 11.12m and 10.45m, which is a career best for Ruble. 

The Arrows will return to action on Friday May 10 at Baldwin Wallace University- Harrison Dillard Twilight meet. They will compete with a few Arrows going for NCAA qualifying marks, trying to punch their tickets to the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field National Championships in Emporia, Kansas on May 23-25th.
