T&F Thrives In Busy Weekend of Meets

The Ursuline College Track & Field team competed in two meets this past weekend to close out the regular season. On April 24-25, the Arrows competed at the Walsh Tune-Up and followed up on April 26-27 at the Ashland Alumni Open.

A'Zaria Thomas had an outstanding weekend, winning the 1500m meters in a time of 4:40.35 at the Walsh Tune-Up. She followed up at Ashland with another win the 800m in a personal-best time of 2:012.58, which is .71 off the NCAA provisional mark in the event. Thomas' performance in the 800m improves her to the 4th all-time mark in history.  

Savahnnah Gyasi-Nimako won the long jump in a personal best of 5.54m to improve her 4th all-time mark in history at Walsh and she won the triple jump with a jump of 11.47m.  Dayahana Douglas won the 200m at Walsh with a season-best performance of 25.97. Emma Smith won the 3000m steeplechase in a personal best time of 12:48.60 at Ashland to move into 5th all-time in school history.  

Emma Esteves placed 2nd overall at Ashland in the 1500m with a time of 4:51.09 and run a season-best in that same event a few days early at Walsh with a time of 4:48.40 to place 4th overall. Miranda Mowrey placed 2nd overall in the javelin at Walsh with a throw of 30.33m. Breanna Banks placed 2nd overall in the 400 meters hurdles at Walsh with a time of 1:08.53 and had a personal best at Ashland in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.72. Kayla Kephart placed 5th overall in the high jump with a jump of 1.50m at Walsh.

Jocelyn Dornbirer had a busy week with two personal best performances. First at Walsh with a 4th place finish in the 800m in 2:20.09 and following up placing 3rd in the 1500m at Ashland with a time of 4:51.28, which improves her 4th all-time mark in school history.   

Additional Arrows with personal best or season best on the week, Christina Scialabba had a season best in the javelin with 22.73m, Malicca Brown had a personal best in the long jump with 5.08m, Mckenna Martin had a personal best in the triple jump with 9.88m, Dominique Weisz, Kayla Kephart, Angelys Caballero all had personal best in the 800m this past week with times of 2:26.84, 2:27.94, and 2:31.86. 

The Arrows will compete at the G-MAC Championships this upcoming week, May 1-3rd, hosted by Hillsdale College.
