Arrows See Huge Success at BW Invitational

The Ursuline College track & field team competed at the Baldwin Wallace University 54th Sparky Adams Invitational this past weekend in Berea, OH.

Alaysia Brooks won the 800 meters in a season-best time of 2:07.94, which is .41 off her outdoor personal best time. Brooks hit a NCAA provisional mark and currently ranks 5th in the country in NCAA Division II this year in the event. 

A'Zaria Thomas won the 1500m in a time of 4:39.09, which is a season best time. Emma Esteves won the 5,000 meters in a time of 17:46.55. The foursome of Breanna Banks, Brooks, Jocelyn Dornbirer, Thomas won the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:58.61 in a season best time.

Dayahana Douglas placed 2nd overall in the 100 meters final in a time of 12.39, which is a season best time. Douglas matched that performance in the 200m placing 2nd overall with a time of 26.15. Breanna Banks placed 2nd overall in the 400 meters hurdles in a personal best time of 1:06.11, which moves her to 3rd all-time in school history. Kayla Kephart placed 5th overall in the high jump with a jump of 1.51m and Mya Knight placed 5th overall in the long jump with a jump of 4.93m, both performances were a season best. 

Additional Arrows with personal bests on the day, Jocelyn Dornbirer placed 11th in the 1500 meters with a time of 4:56.78, which moves her into 4th all-time in school history. Emma Smith had a huge personal best in the 5000 meters by 11 seconds and breaking the 20-minute barrier. Smith's time of 19:57.33 moves her into 4th all-time in school history in the event. Dominique Weisz had another huge personal best by 11 seconds in the 1500m with a 5:15.53. Adrianna Ruble had a top throw in the shot put with a finsh of 10.02m. 

The Arrows conclude their regular season this week with two meets, the first at the Walsh Tune-Up on April 24-25 and the second at the Ashland Alumni Open on April 26-27. The Arrows compete in preparation for the G-MAC Championships the following week, May 1-3rd, hosted by Hillsdale College.
