The Arrows Track & Field team returned to competition with their first meet of 2024 this past weekend. They traveled to Geneva, OH for the SPIRE Midwest Open where UC saw success in multiple events.
Alaysia Brooks had an NCAA record performance, winning the 600 meters in 1:31.37. This moves her to 2nd All-Time in NCAA D2 History in all-conditions, breaking her own school record previously set last season of 1:32.89 (NCAA DII #5 mark). Brooks currently holds the second and fifth all-time marks in NCAA Division II in the 600m.Â

Emma Esteves placed 1st overall with a time of 12:23.66. This finish currently has them ranked 3rd in the country after week three of the season. Teammates
Jocelyn Dornbirer,
Angelys Caballero,
Dominique Weisz, and
Emma Smith followed up in 2nd place with their 13:41.30 finish.Â
Dayahana Douglas placed 4th overall in the 300m in a time of 45.71, which moves her to 5th all-time in program history. Thomas placed 8th overall in the 800m with a time of 2:19.53 and Banks placed 8th overall in the 600m with a time of 1:44.59.Â
In the field events - Freshman,
Savahnna Gyasi-Nimako, won the triple jump with a 11.33m mark which ranks 2nd all-time in UC program history. Gyasi- Nimako also placed 4th in the long jump with a mark of 5.32m.
Kayla Kephart placed 8th in the high jump with a mark of 1.50m.Â
Rounding out the Arrows performances,
Claryssa Panayotti had a huge personal best in the weight with a mark of 11.87 and
Arianna Wallace had a personal best as well with a mark of 11.94m.
The Arrows will return to competition at the University of Michigan Invitational and the Kent State Doung Raymond National Qualifier on January 26-27.Â
