The Ursuline College track & field team competed in the Mount Union - John Homon Open on Thursday and Friday this week where they had record breaking performances and set personal records across the board.
Emma Esteves led the way with a historic day winning the 5,000m in a new school record and personal best time of 17:46.50. This broke the 13-year old school record of 18:14.70 held previously by UC Hall of Famer, Jessica Dingman.Â
Alaysia Brooks placed second overall in the 800m with a new personal best time of 2:16.77 and moved to fourth all-time in school history.
A'Zaria Thomas placed sixth overall in the 1500m with a new personal best time of 4:53.84 and moves into the second all-time in school history spot.Â
Dayahana Douglas opened up her outdoor track & field season in the 100m preliminary round with a 12.38, finishing fourth heading into finals.
Autumn Burgess and
Jae'Anna Hughes both had personal best times in the 100m preliminary rounds of 12.66 and 12.68Â placing 13th and 14th overall in the event. Douglas did not compete in the finals.Â
Burgess and Hughes continued their good day in the 200m dash placing fourth and sixth overall with times of 26.48 and 26.57. Hughes had a new personal best time in the event.
Breanna Banks placed fifth overall in the 400mh with a new personal best of 1:11.06.
Karla Hormazabal placed sixth overall in the high jump with a mark of 1.45m and seventh in the long jump with a mark of 4.98.
Kayla Childs had a huge personal best in the long jump of 4.89m, placing ninth overall.
The Arrows had their season best performance in the 4x100m relay team of Hughes, Douglas, Burgess, Childs placing third overall with a time of 48.98. The 4x400m relay team of Kensey, A.Thomas, Brooks and Banks dropped 4 seconds from last weekend and placed second overall with a time of 4:06.03.Â
Additional Arrows that saw season best performances were
Emma Smith in her debut of the 3000m steeplechase, placing fourth overall in 13:51.01, and
Gabrielle Post placing sixth overall. Post dropped 14 seconds off her 3000m steeplechase from last week.
Christina Scialabba had a season best in the javelin with 24.78m.Â
The Arrows compete next on April 15-16 at Tiffin University.
