The Ursuline College Track & Field team opened their outdoor season at the Marietta College-Don Frail Invitational this weekend.
The Arrows placed second overall as a team and had eight individual event winners on the day.
Karla Hormazabal led the way with two event wins in the triple jump with a mark of 11.18m to move her into 3rd all-time in school history. Hormazabal won the long jump in a new personal best of 5.01m for outdoor track & field.
Jennifer Beverly and
Kayla Childs tied for the win in the high jump with a mark of 1.45m.
Emma Esteves won the 5k in a time of 18:26.57 just 12 seconds off the school record. Esteves performance moved her into 2nd all-time in school history, behind UC hall of famer Jessica Dingman.
In
Jae'Anna Hughes first collegiate meet, she won the 100m dash with a time of 12.90. Hughes had the fastest time in the preliminary round with a time of 12.88, which is a personal best mark.
A'Zaria Thomas won the 1500m with a new personal best time of 5:03.29 to improve her 3rd all-time mark from last year.
Alaysia Brooks won the 800m with a new personal best for outdoor track & field with a time of 2:23.25. Brooks moved to 5th all-time in school history.
Breanna Banks received her first collegiate win the 400m dash to close out all the event winners for the day.
The Arrows saw success with additional points for their top four finishes.
Ciani Kensey placed third overall in the 800m with a time of 2:33.70.
Emma Smith finished third in the 5k with a new personal best of 22:45.20.
Miranda Mowrey had a fourth place finish in the javelin with a new personal best of 27.03m.
Jasmine Jamison in her first ever track & field competition turned in a fourth place overall finish in the shot put with a mark of 10.35m. The Arrows scored a total of 121 points competing in only 10 of the 17 events.
