Arrows Battle Cedarville For 64-56 Win

The Arrows battled Cedarville University on Thursday evening to a 64-56 win. This broke Ursuline's seven-game losing streak to Cedarville, their last win against the Yellow Jackets was in February of 2017. 

The Yellow Jackets claimed an early lead against the Arrows, ending the first quarter 22-17. Their offensive shot 59 percent from the floor and went 2-of-6 from the three-point line while Ursuline shot 35 percent from the floor going 2-for-4 from the three-point line. 

Cedarville held their lead in the second quarter, the Arrows were at a 13 points deficit with 2:45 left on the clock in the second quarter. The Cloonan's rattled off seven-points collectively to hold off the Yellow Jackets before the end of the half. Cedarville lead 39-29 at the break. 

Ursuline's defense kicked into gear in the second half, holding the Yellow Jackets to just five points in the third quarter. A jumper by Michaela Cloonan in the final minute of play closed the gap for the Arrows. They went into the final quarter of the game tied 44-44.

After constant back-and-forth action in the final quarter, Bekah Green took the Arrows to a three point lead off a jump shot in the paint with just 1:20 on the clock. Cedarville didn't hold the ball for long as Michaela Cloonan stole the ball from CU's Allison Mader. The Jackets went on to foul Bekah Green four times in the last minute of play. Green made 100% of those foul shots, closing the game out to a 64-56 victory for the Arrows.

Ursuline shot 23-of-67 (34 percent) from the field and went 4-of-16 from the three-point line while Cedarville was 22-of-51 (43 percent) from the floor and 3-of-18 from the arc. Ursuline was 14-of-17 from the free throw line and picked up 11 steals on the defensive end. Cedarville turned the ball over 15 times while the Arrows committed 12 turnovers.
 
The Arrows were paced by Green's 19 points, 10 of which came in the final quarter. Michaela Cloonan finished with 18 points, seven rebounds and four steals while Madison Cloonan completed a double-double of 12 points and 15 rebounds. Patience Ashaolu added in 11 points and eight rebounds while Riley Stopp had two blocks and three steals to go with her four points.
 
Ursuline will travel to Columbus, OH to compete against Ohio Dominican University on Saturday at 1:00 pm.
