The Ursuline College basketball team lost two games this week to Walsh University. Their match up on Monday was lost 69-77 and they fell to Cavaliers again on Wednesday evening, 48-77.
On Monday, Walsh outscored the Arrows in the first half 39-25. Ursuline kicked it into gear in the second half and fought hard to close the gap. They shot 71 percent (12-for-17) from the field while Walsh shot 50 percent (5-for-10), leading them to outscore the Cavaliers 28-21 in the third quarter. The Arrows took a one point lead in the fourth quarter off a shot from
Alyssa Evans at the 5:57 mark. Walsh quickly answered with six points before Ursuline could score again. They continued to push the Arrows and finished the game 77-69.
Ursuline's Senior, Bekah Green, reached her 1,000th career point this game with her 20 point showing. She became the fifth player in program history to reach this accomplishment.
The Arrows went into the game on Wednesday evening looking for redemption. Walsh started to build a strong lead in the first five minutes of play before Ursuline closed the gap down to just four before the end of the quarter. The Cavaliers started to click in the second quarter and outscored the Arrows 20-10, making the score 38-24 at the break.
Ursuline struggled to find their rhythm in the second half. Walsh lead by 25 points at the end of the third and reached a game high lead of 31 points in the fourth. The Arrows fell 77-48 to end the game.
As a team, UC shot 32 percent (19-of-60) from the field and 32 percent (7-for-22) from the three-point line. WU shot 55 percent (33-of-60) from the field and 47 percent (8-of-17) from the three point line. Juniors, Michaela and
Madison Cloonan led the Arrows with 18 and 10 points each to go along with their four and seven rebounds.
Ursuline will face Malone University in their next match up on Saturday at 1:00 pm.
