Strong Second Half Not Able to Help Arrows to Victory

The Ursuline College basketball team out scored Kentucky Wesleyan 29-24 in the second half but it was not enough to comeback against the Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers at home on Thursday evening.

The Panthers held the Arrows scoreless in the first six minutes of play as they built a 14-0 lead in the first quarter. Bekah Green put the team on the board with a jumper before Alyssa Evans drained a three pointer but KWC kept building their lead. They finished with an 18 point lead, going into the second quarter 25-7.

Kentucky Wesleyan outscored Ursuline 11-9 in the second quarter and held a 20 point lead, 36-16, at the break.

The Arrows offense got on track in the third quarter, however, despite outscoring KWC 14-10 in the period, they could not close the gap to any closer than 16 at 46-30.

A final push from Ursuline made for an exciting fourth quarter as they picked up their shooting game, however they were unable to catch up to the Panthers large lead. KWC defeated UC 60-45.

After shooting 11-of-28 in the first half, Ursuline shot 17-of-38 in the second half and finished the game 17-of-42 from the floor and 3-of-15 from behind the three-point line. The Panthers shot 22-of-40 from the floor and were 6-of-15 from three. The Arrows were 8-of-9 from the free throw line while the Panthers went 10-of-19 from the charity stripe.
