The Ursuline College lacrosse team dropped its season opener 8-6 to visiting Charleston on Saturday afternoon at Gilmour Academy.

The Golden Eagles grabbed a quick 1-0 lead in the opening minute of play but Ursuline was able to respond on a goal from
Allie Marks that was assisted by
Jillian Guiles to make it 1-1. After another score from Charleston, Guiles scored her first goal of the season to tie the game again at 2-2.

Grace London scored her first collegiate goal to make it 3-3 but Charleston scored three unanswered goals to conclude the first half in front 6-3.

Michaela Riley scored the first goal of the second half to narrow the gap to 6-4 and Guiles and
Jaclyn Gilmore each added a goal that put the Arrows behind 7-6 with under 14 minutes to play.

The Golden Eagles scored with under 13 minutes to play to make it 8-6.

Charleston outshot Ursuline 26-23 in the game and Ursuline was edged in ground balls 15-14. The Arrows were 13-of-19 in clear attempts while the Eagles went 13-15.

Guiles finished with two goals and one assist while Riley, Gilmore, London and Marks each had a goal.

Ursuline will travel to Alderson Broaddus on March 13.
