The Ursuline College lacrosse team picked up its first win of the season on the road against Alderson Broaddus 15-13 on Saturday afternoon in West Virginia.
The Arrows scored four the first give goals in the game as their offense came out strong in the first half.
Emily Polivick found the net first just four minutes into the contest to make it 1-0.
Jillian Guiles picked up her first goal of the game six minutes later to make it 2-0.
After the Battlers cut the deficit to 2-1, Guiles scored again to make it 3-1 and Michalea Riley followed with her first goal to make it 4-1. Polivick added another goal in the first half to make it 5-2.
Alderson Broaddus came storming back to make it a 5-4 game before
Madi Mamoone scored her first goal of the season with 7:00 remaining in the half to make it 6-5. The Arrows got a goal from
Allie Marks and a man-up goal from Guiles to make it 8-6 late in the first half.
Ursuline held a 10-8 advantage at the half.
The Battlers scored the first two goals of the second half to tie the game 10-10 before Polivick, Riley and
Grace London all scored for Ursuline to make it 13-10. Alderson Broaddus pulled to within two at 13-11 before Guiles scored again and
Jaclyn Gilmore scored the final goal of the afternoon for Ursuline.
Ursuline outshot Alderson Broaddus 39-23 in the game inlcuding 20-10 in the second half. The Battlers had 19 turnovers to 17 for Ursuline and the arrows held a large advantage in draw controls at 19-11.
Guiles finished with four goals while Riley and Polivick each had three scores. Riley also added two assists and she is now just tied for the most assists in a career in in program history with 56. Gilmore led the team with five caused turnovers and won four draws.
The Arrows will open conference play up on Friday, March 19 when they travel to Findlay to take on the Oilers at 4:00 PM.
