The Ursuline College basketball team returned home to defeat visiting Ohio Valley 80-68 on Thursday evening behind 24 points from junior
Julia Cardwell and a career-high 18 points from freshman
Jennah Taylor.

After the two teams traded three-point baskets in the opening minute, Ursuline responded with a 12-0 run sparked by a jumper from Taylor. Cardwell followed with a layup and then buried a three-pointer to make it 10-3 with 7:26 to play in the quarter. Taylor extended the lead to 15-3 with a three-point play after a layup and a foul.

Ohio Valley made a run late in the quarter to cut the deficit to 24-17 after the first period.

Paige Salisbury hit a three-point shot with 6:16 to play in the first half to extend the lead back to double-digits at 31-21 but Ohio Valley answered back to cut the deficit to four at 37-33 with 2:10 remaining in the first half.

Ursuline answered with a 7-0 run to close out the half that was started by a three-pointer from junior
Morgan Mattimore and capped by another jumper from Taylor.

The Arrows were paced by Cardwell who finished with 24 points on 9-of-15 shooting from the floor and 4-of-5 from behind-the-arc. She also had seven rebounds and dished out two assists and blocked two shots. Taylor finished with 18 points on 7-of-11 from the floor while also picking up three blocks and five boards. Junior
Ky Crevison added 14 points and dished out seven assists while freshman
Emily Poling pitched in 12 points.

Ursuline shot 28-of-65 (43 percent) from the floor while Ohio Valley was 26-of-55 (47 percent) from the field. The Arrows were 11-of-29 from the arc while the Fighting Scots went 6-of-17 from deep. Ursuline forced 21 turnovers and picked up a season-high 14 steals.

The Arrows will host Ohio Dominican University on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 in a key Great Midwest match-up as both teams are fighting for a spot in the postseason that begins in March.
