The Ursuline College basketball team bounced back with a 78-73 win over visiting Lake Erie College on Thursday evening to improve to 3-4 in the Great Midwest.

The Arrows and Storm traded the lead in the early minutes of the game before Lake Erie built a 16-10 advantage with 1:30 to play in the first quarter. Senior
Paige Salisbury closed the gap to four at the end of the period with a pair of free throws to make it 16-12.

Lake Erie built the lead back up to nine at 21-12 with 7:39 to play in the first half before Ursuline responded with a 6-0 run of its own started by a three-pointer from freshman
Emily Poling. Junior
Julia Cardwell capped the run with a three-pointer from the top of the key to make it 21-18 with under 6:00 to play in the half.

Ursuline outscored Lake Erie 19-11 in the second quarter to take a 31-27 lead into the locker room.

The Arrows and Storm both shot over 50 percent in the third quarter but the Arrows were 3-of-6 from behind-the-arc in the quarter to extend the lead.

Ursuline had five players in double-figures led by Poling who finished with 17 points and was a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line. Cardwell added 15 points and grabbed six rebounds while Salisbury finished with 13 points, eight rebounds and seven assists. Sophomore
Sarah Lairson added 10 points and junior Ky Crevision had 10 points and four assists.

The Arrows shot 25-of-61 from the field as a team (41 percent) and were 8-for-23 from the three-point line. Lake Erie was 26-of-62 from the floor (42 percent) and connected on 7-of-21 from the three-point line. Ursuline was 20-of-27 from the free throw line while Lake Erie finished 14-of-17.

Ursuline forced 20 turnovers while committing 15 of its own on the evening.

The Arrows will be off until next Thursday, January 10 when they will host Tiffin in the first meeting between the two schools in conference play.
