The Ursuline College basketball team dropped an 88-71 road decision to Ohio Dominican University on Thursday evening in Columbus, Ohio.

Ursuline took an 8-7 lead on a lay-up from freshman
Bekah Green with just over 5:00 remaining in the first quarter before Ohio Dominican closed the quarter on an 8-3 run to lead 16-11 after the first 10 minutes.

The Arrows shot just 4-of-19 in the opening quarter while the Panthers were 6-of-14 from the field and 2-for-6 from behind the arc.

Ohio Dominican heated up from the three-point line in the second quarter as they went 4-of-8 as they built a 31-18 lead midway through the period.

Ursuline closed the gap to 31-23 late in the quarter but trailed by 10 at the break.

The Arrows started the third quarter on a 9-3 run over the first two and a half minutes to cut the lead down to five at 44-39 at the 6:00 mark of the third quarter. Freshman
Emily Poling hit a three-pointer to help spark the run.

Ohio Dominican answered with a 10-0 run of their own to build the lead back up to 54-39 with 3:00 to play in the third.
Julia Cardwell answered a three-point play by the Panthers with her first three-pointer of the game to get the lead back down to 12.

The Panthers outscored the Arrows 29-18 in the third period to open up a 65-44 lead that proved to be the difference in the contest.

Ursuline shot 25-of-70 (36 percent) from the field and went 8-for-22 from the three-point line while Ohio Dominican shot 32-of-65 (49 percent) from the floor and 13-of-27 from behind-the-arc. Each team finished with 10 turnovers apiece and the Arrows were 13-of-19 from the free throw line while Ohio Dominican was 11-of-17.

The Arrows were led by freshman
Jennah Taylor who finished with 12 points and three blocked shots while Cardwell added 11 points and 11 rebounds in her first double-double of the season. Junior
Morgan Mattimore finished with 10 points in her first start of the year while senior
Paige Salisbury added 10 points and four assists.

Ursuline will travel to Ohio Valley on Saturday to take on the Fighting Scots at 1:00 PM.
