The Ursuline College volleyball team split a pair of matches on Saturday afternoon on day two of the Shepherd Showdown in West Virginia.

The Arrows defeated Virginia State in the opening match of the second day of the event in four sets.

Ursuline won the first set 25-14 before Virginia State took the second set 25-21. The Arrows answered back with a 25-13 win in the third set and clinched the match with a 25-19 in the fourth.

The Arrows were led by sophomore
Vikki Henderson who finished with 19 kills while freshman
Jessie Lee had 14 and sophomore
Jill Morrow added seven. Junior
Katelyn Selleny added 38 assists while freshman
Lauran Hicks had five service aces.

In the second match of the day the Arrows fell in four to Lock Haven University to finish the event 3-1 for the weekend. Lock Haven won the first set 25-22 and the Arrows took the second 25-18 before falling 25-17 and 25-22 in the final two sets.

Henderson finished with 15 kills while sophomore Angie Zamora had nine and freshman
Hannah Hottinger added seven. Freshman
Zoe Skinner added 21 digs.

The Arrows will open Great Midwest conference play at home on Thursday when they host Ohio Valley at 7:00 PM. Ursuline remains home the remainder of the weekend with matches against Davis & Elkins on Friday at 7pm and Alderson Broaddus on Saturday.Â
