The Ursuline College basketball team won its fourth straight game to improve to 4-0 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference after a come from behind 68-62 win over visiting Alderson Broaddus on Saturday afternoon.

The visiting Battlers ran out to a quick start as they built a 7-2 lead capped by a jumper from Myriam Garica with 8:39 to play in the opening quarter.

Ursuline's offense responded after senior
Laney Lewis hit a jumper and junior
Paige Salisbury converted a layup to make it 9-6 with just under 7:00 to play in the opening quarter.

Morgan Mattimore buried a 15-foot jumper to give the Arrows their first lead at 10-9 with just under 6:30 minutes to play in the quarter.

Carly Koncz came off the bench and hit a pair of three-pointers to build the Arrows lead to 21-12 late in the first.

Offense Went Cold
Â
Leading 25-18 after one, Ursuline saw its offense vanish in the second quarter. The Arrows went 1-for-16 from the field and 2-2 from the free throw line in the frame and scored just four points.

Alderson Broaddus outscored Ursuline 23-4 in the quarter and built a 41-29 lead at the intermission.

The four-point quarter was the least the Arrows had scored in a quarter dating back to December 7 last season when they scored five in the second quarter in a loss to Mercyhurst.

The Game Changed When…

The Arrows found their offense after the halftime break as they shot 50% in the third quarter (8-for-16) led by six points from Mattimore and four from senior
Camryn Hill.

Ursuline outscored Alderson Broaddus 18-12 in the quarter and trailed 53-47 after three.
Â
The hot shooting continued in the fourth quarter as the Arrows shot 6-for-12 from the field in the final quarter and their defense held the Battlers to just 3-for-16 from the floor.

Lewis hit 8-for-10 from the free throw line in the final quarter to help seal the win for Ursuline. The Arrows were 14-for-16 from the line in the game.Â

Another Milestone Reached

Laney Lewis pulled down her 1,000
th career rebound in the early moments of the third quarter to become the only active player in NCAA Division II to have 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds in a career.

Lewis finished the game with 12 rebounds and has 1,003 career rebounds which leaves her just 12 shy of becoming the all-time leader in program history.
Â
She is also the only player in Great Midwest Athletic Conference history to be in the 1,000 point/1,000 rebound club.
