The Ursuline College basketball team nearly erased a 19-point fourth quarter deficit in an 83-81 road loss at Notre Dame College on Monday evening.

The two crosstown rivals started the game out slow with the Arrows shooting just 4-for-17 from the field in the opening quarter after making their first three shots.

Notre Dame was 6-for-18 from the field but hit three from behind the three-point line to build a 17-13 lead after the first quarter.

Both teams heated up in the second quarter as they combined for 50 points in the period.

Ursuline was 5-8 from deep while Notre Dame was equally as hot shooting 4-for-7 from behind-the-arc.

The Falcons closed the half on an 11-1 run after Ursuline had regained the lead at 35-33 with under three minutes to play.

The Game Changed When

Notre Dame outscored Ursuline 21-14 in the third quarter and used the momentum to build a 72-53 lead in the fourth quarter.

Didn't Give Up

After trailing by 19, Ursuline outscored Notre Dame 31-18 in the fourth quarter and nearly erased the lead the Falcons had built. The Arrows had the ball with under three seconds to play but missed back-to-back shots in the paint.

Laney Lewis recorded her 35
th career double-double and set a new career-high with 26 rebounds. Â She also finished with 21 points on 7-for-14 shooting and had eight assists which left her just two shy of her second triple-double of the season.
