The Ursuline College basketball team shot a school-record 42 free throws as they defeated visiting Alderson Broaddus 83-66 on Saturday afternoon.

The Arrows finished the game 37-42 from the free throw line which was the most free throws attempted since 2010 and most made since 2014.

Ursuline took an early lead in the first quarter at 7-6 when sophomore
Brigan Wymer hit a three-pointer and the lead was extended on another three from junior
Camryn Hill to make it 10-6. A traditional three-point play from senior
Erica Huber pushed the lead to 12-6 with 6:17 to play in the opening quarter.

The Arrows closed the first quarter a 7-1 run to take a 26-17 lead after one.

Ursuline continued to build the lead in the second quarter as they pushed out to a 36-22 lead after a pair of Hill free throws. At the half, the Arrows led 46-37.

Alderson Broaddus got back in the game in the third quarter as they cut the deficit to one at 49-48 after a 11-3 run to start the second half. Huber connected on a pair of free throws to stop the run and make it 52-48.

The Ursuline lead remained at 11 at the end of the third quarter. The Arrows outscored the Battlers 16-10 in the final frame.

The Arrows shot 21-for-56 (38 percent) from the field but went just 4-for-23 from behind the arc. Ursuline edged Alderson Broaddus 31-28 on the glass and forced 18 turnovers.

Ursuline was led by Wymer who finished with 21 points on 6-for-16 from the field and was a perfect 6-for-6 from the charity stripe. Huber added 20 points and was 12-for-14 from the line. Redshirt junior
Laney Lewis had 14 points and 11 rebounds in her ninth double-double performance of the game. Hill added 11 points for Ursuline in the victory.

The Arrows will start four-game road swing on Thursday with a trip to Owensboro, Kentucky to take on Kentucky Wesleyan. The Panthers defeated Cedarville 77-72 to improve to 2-0 after the first week of G-MAC play.Â
