The Ursuline College basketball team won its sixth straight game and improved to 4-0 in the G-MAC after a 67-52 win over Trevecca Nazarene in Nashville on Saturday.
Ursuline broke a 12-12 tie at the 3:46 mark in the first quarter on a layup from redshirt junior
Laney Lewis that sparked a 7-0 run and put Ursuline ahead 19-12. The Arrows held a 21-16 advantage after one quarter.
The second quarter saw early turnovers keep the Arrows from breaking the game open as the Trojans held the Arrows to just 10 points in the quarter and took a brief 30-29 lead in the final minute of the half before sophomore
Brigan Wymer hit a jumper in the paint to make it 31-30 at the break.
Ursuline shot 11-for-23 in the first half but committed a season-high 15 first half turnovers.
The Arrows cleaned things up in the third quarter as they started the half on a 15-3 run. The Trojans scored just eight points in the second quarter and trailed Ursuline 47-38 after three.
Ursuline shot 39 percent (22-for-56) from the floor and were 6-for-20 from three. Trevecca shot just 27 percent (18-for-65) and went 11-for-29 from behind-the-arc. The Arrows committed a season-high 22 turnovers but did out rebound the Trojans 54-32 including 18-11 on the offensive end.
The Arrows were led by a game-high 17 points from senior
Erica Huber who finished 4-for-9 from behind-the-arc in 39 minutes. Lewis finished with a career and season best 25 rebounds and also had 12 points, six assists and blocked seven shots. The 25 rebounds are the fourth most in a NCAA Division II game this season. Junior
Camryn Hill finished with a double-double by scoring 11 points and grabbing 13 rebounds. Wymer also finished with 11 points.
Ursuline has now won three-straight over Trevecca by an average score of 87-59 dating back to last season.
The Arrows will remain on the road on Thursday when they travel to Vienna, West Virginia to take on Ohio Valley. Tip-off is set for 5:30pm.
