The Ursuline College volleyball team split a pair of matches on the opening day of play in the Notre Dame/Ursuline tournament on Friday.

Ursuline fell to Gannon in straight sets in the first match of the day before finishing the evening with a 3-1 win over Charleston.

The Arrows fell 26-24, 26-24 and 25-19 in the opener against the Golden Knights and were led by senior
Emily Adkinson who finished with nine kills as did freshman
Victoria Henderson. Senior
Makayla Windau added eight kills while sophomore
Katelyn Selleny had 33 assists.

Henderson added three service aces and sophomore
Kassidy Stilwell had a match-high 19 digs.

In the evening match, Ursuline defeated Charleston 25-21 in the opening set and took the second set 25-23. The Eagles got back into the match with a back-and-forth 27-25 win in the third to force a fourth set.

The Arrows and Eagles once again traded points throughout the fourth set before Ursuline pulled away with a 30-28 win.

Ursuline was led by Henderson who finished with a match and career high 21 kills while Windau added 14 and Adkinson 13. Selleny finished with 58 assists and Stilwell had 27 digs.

The Arrows will be back in action again tomorrow afternoon at Noon when they host Lake Erie College. The tournament will conclude with a match between Ursuline and Notre Dame at 7:00pm at Notre Dame College. Â
